Yes I think that will help performance of the laptop, but I would want a better desktop PC but is has to be way better than the laptop.

Benchmark of dirt 3 is 24 fps maybe with an new driver Max 35. The goal I would want to get is above 45 - 60 fps for these kind of games.

My advice is to wait for the new GPUs in June from both Vendors and buy the best current thing. For now, fix your driver issues - 25fps is definitely low for a 950M

hey,

I'm thinking for a long time to build an gaming pc. This is because i recently bought a gaming laptop and it sucks at gaming. Mainly because it's bad graphics card. the notebook i'm talking about is a MSI gp72 2qe leopard pro with an i7 5700HQ, gtx 950m 2gb ddr3, 8gb RAM, 120 gb ssd and 1tb hdd. It's fine for lighter games but when i go for the heavier games like dirt 3 or f1 2015. it lacks balls.

So my question to you guys is the set up listed here is it significantly better than the notebook i currently have?

these are the parts that i'm currently thinking about buying.

4690K 3.5ghz lga1150 (3.9ghz boost)        €264.90
2*8 crucial ddr3-1600                 €59.90
coolermaster b600 600w                €59.90
MSI gtx 970 4g                    €354.90
ASrock b85m pro4 mATX                €64.90

total                        €807.45

Al ready have the next stuff from old pc's

Several 200 GB 5400rpm harddrives 3.5 inch
120 GB kingston ssd 2.5 inch
Cases
Opticaldrives

My budget is with 800 euries maxed out but maybe if you guys recommend something some more expensis are ok.

please let me know

The i7 5700HQ is more powerful than any i5 so yeah :D

As for the 950M - what driver version are you using? It's a fairly decent GPU.

He shouldn't honestly - Polaris and Pascal are 2 months away - the 950M is capable of gaming as I've used it - my guess is the driver he is using is one of the crappy ones. He should wait.

My driver is probably shit because i havent updated it since i bought the laptop. But i think the 2gb ddr3 from the 950m is a bottle neck since a 750 ti has a better benchmark with ddr 5

And yes i have considerd a r9 390 but the benchmarks of the 970 are better.

Try 361.75 and a clean install (using DDU) - that might help. I'd strongly suggest waiting - new GPUs from both vendors are due in June
