New Razer Blade 14 (2016) delayed...again

I checked my email this morning to see this...

Dear Blade Customer,

Thank you for you order of the new Razer Blade gaming laptop.

We now expect to be able to ship your product approximately May 18th and we will notify you as soon as it does. We value your business and appreciate your patience and understanding.

If you have any further questions or concerns regarding your order, please contact our support team at ordersupport@razerzone.com.

Sincerely,

Team RazerStore

Sorry Razer, but this is seriously getting annoying considering this was originally supposed to ship on the 12th of April, only to be moved to the 22nd, then the 25th and now the 18th of May. And they have not provided a reason for the additional delay they alerted us to today

edit: @don_svetlio (forgot to quote you)

Say what you want about their peripherals, but their laptops are amazing. Very good performance in a thin, (according to Linus well cooled) chassis, and a slick af look.
And if you want all those 3 combined, you pay a premium.

What does the Sager laptop have to do with Razer?

He generally praises it.

@Samurai_TwoSeven I agree with you though, the unexplained shipping is disconcerting.

I consider 90 under load for a thin laptop acceptable, seeing that mine gets to around the same temperature when playing Star Citizen...

Remember, this is a laptop, not a desktop, mobile components have a higher thermal threshold than their desktop equivalents.

But it throttles - that is unacceptable as the cooling on the Blade hasn't been changed since 2013 but the thermal output has went up by over 30W. That is just oversight

How can other laptops keep temps under 85*C and still perform as good and be thin? MSI GS60 for instance

Doesn't the Stealth have a 960m though, not a 970m?

But yeah, you're right it seems. Not gonna upgrade earlier than 2 years though, so there's hope for me that they'll fix it by then.

GS60 Pro has a 970M but double the heatsink area - runs cooler and as a result performs better. Not to mention it costs 40% less

Yeah, thermal throttle shouldn't be an issues. That needs to be resolved.

Every time they release a new blade they mention cooling has been updated. I don't know how much it's been updated since I don't know the internals, but they do pay attention to it. I wouldn't mind if they made it slightly thicker to add more cooling, the heat is probably my biggest issue. I've never had a throttling issue though.

It also has 3 more inches to dissipate heat, doesn't have per key back-lighting, and doesn't look as sleek.

People who buy the Blade pay for ultra portability, and aesthetics.  You clearly have your preferences, but other people have theirs as well.

That said, the blade doesn't throttle until it hits 95c to my knowledge.

It has RGB backlighting per key on the pro model IIRC.

It's still light, slim and powerful - looks are a personal opinion.

It does reach 95*C tho

I was shopping for gaming laptops about a month ago and I remember seeing that the Stealth Pro had 3 zones of lightning, not individual keys.

Another advantage of Razer laptops is they don't come with a crapload of bloatware.  I own an older MSI laptop from when they first broke into the gaming laptop market, and man that thing came with a load of crap on it.  From what I read MSI laptops still come with loads of crap on them.  I bought a Blade Stealth a few months ago, and it came with no bloatware on it at all, except for Synapse, which is actually needed lol :)

I always do a fresh install and buy without OS since it saves me money so that doesn't really matter.

... not sure Razer reads this forum; do they?

But a delay of a month occurs fairly routinely in many supply chains on new product launch.  I can't spell out how many times I waited a tad extra on Apple, MSI and Gigabyte products.  But it happens...  so just sit back, enjoy what you still have for a period of time and let the anticipation brew and mellow a bit.

Are you suggesting Razor should make a heavier, thicker, uglier laptop to get more cooling in? I'm grabbing a Blade Stealth, not because I actually plan to game on the thing, nor would I game on the Blade Pro, that's what my PC is for. No, I got it because its the only non-Apple laptop to be built as well as a MacBook, and perform as well. You don't buy a super thin laptop for raw specs, you buy for the build, the materials, the display, the trackpad (traditionally garbage on anything Windows) etc etc. Basically, for a proper laptop you have this, the MacBook line up or the XPS series. Everything else is cheap plastic shit, or a hot, heavy desktop trying to convince you to carry it around so you can game for 3 minutes until it dies.

Wow you are ignorant.

Firstly, have you heard of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon series? Yeah, fat chance a blade is as durable - unlike the flimsy thin sheets of aluminium used by Razer and Apple, work-grade laptops like the HP Elitebook and Lenovo ThinkPad use Magnesium-based alloys to achieve maximum durability.

Secondly - if you want battery life, then the T460S is by all means the undisputed king clocking in at over 13 hours of battery life in a 14' body

Thirdly, cooling - ThinkPads simply use copper heatsinks - small ones just like Razer but copper transfers heat 50% better than aluminium resulting in quiet and cool operation.

Fourth, if you are not gaming, buying a laptop with a 970M is fairly pointless

Fifth, Macbooks have so many heat and noise issues it's silly you bring them up as a "good" laptop. XPS are a whole different beast.

Sixth - I am suggesting using copper and a bit more surface area so as to not have their 2500$ laptop cook itself to death within a few months
