Laptop won't connect to WIFI after HDD format

Go to solution Solved by GreezyJeezy,

i installed windows 8.1 and it let me connect to wifi so idk

its dell inspiron 1440, i wiped the drive reinstalled windows, went to activate and it and said no internet, went to connect and said i had no devices to be able to connect.

tried via ethernet and it didnt do anything, used the ethernet cord from my desktop so i know the cord was not the issue.

went and looked at the wifi adapter and it said it failed to start error code 10, the adapter is a realtek RTL8101.

googled realtek RTL8101 drivers, installed what i found, still failed to start.

anyone have ideas?

you installed windows 10?

did you try to "check for windows updates" and let everything install itself?

did you try installing these drivers from the dell website?

if neither of the two above options worked, then you need to use a different OS, unless you can magically find some updated LAN drivers that work on win10
