Anyone have idea's on making my desk good looking?

Hey all,

 

I find my current desk pretty bland. It's lifeless and I want to get some nice mood. 

What can I possibly do to make it feel good? I want to keep it as cheap as possible. 

 

Get new desk lights? LED lighting? Lava lamp?

You have so much crap on your desk. Finding a new place for things would help as well as keeping food/drinks off the desk.

 

Give this a shot for cable management. I grabbed one about 2 months ago and its great.

Yeah it's dirty! Also mind the monitor. My DELL U2515H is RMA right now because of dead pixels (bought it 3 days ago ). 

 

Any ideas for LED lights, mood lamps etc?

I wouldn't just look at the desk but the whole environment of the room you have your computer and of course cable managment^^ wall mounted shelfs would help with some of the clutter on the desk^^

RGB LEDs from IKEA, put those around the back edge of desk for "mood" lighting as you put it.
Remove those lamps from the desk, as well as the other non essential things on your desk. I wouldn't even keep the printer.

Position your speakers more nicely. Simple fix!
If you have collectibles like Amiibos or figures or something you like seeing Get a shelf from IKEA and mount that above the desk or off to the side and put all that there.

Consider painting that room if possible.

 

There is a lot you can do, while spending minimal or no money. Just look around and be creative. I used to simply move the desks location slightly every once in awhile and that helped it feel less boring!

To me, it's a shame to have such a fine looking case just sitting underneath on the floor.. I chose a define S for the sole purpose of having something that looked real good on top of the desk

1.  Get an under desk keyboard tray

2.  Mount the power strip on the underside of the desk - in the back, just above your computer chassis, then get some cable ties and clean up that wiring mess.

3.  Clean up all that clutter on the table top.

4.  Move your lighting onto the wall - maybe add a shelf with built in lighting (very simply now with LED light cans) to the wall above the monitor (which would also give you a   place for all that crap currently on the desk.)
