UK aerial TV black screen on old CRT, works on new TV

Hi,

I have an old CRT TV (Sony KV28FX65) that is not on use any more. We have a new flatscreen TV by Sony and it's great, and can receive the new digital UK Freeview TV well in HD. However, we switched on the old CRT today and connected the same aerial cable, and went into settings and selected 'Auto Tune'. But the screen remained black after 2 seconds of static. Anyone know a tweak to make it receive the signal properly?

Wow. You missed the latter half of 2000's? Well, The US got their first black president, a huge particle collider was completed in in Switzerland, Michael Jackson died in peculiar circumstances and pretty much the entire western world changed to transmitting TV signals only digitally rendering old analog TVs obsolete. You can still get a set top box to remedy that thou.

As the other guys have pointed out, here in the UK we don't have analogue signals anymore, and old CRT TV's don't have a digital tuner.
