Sennheiser or Audio Technica?

This post is to discuss about headset only. 

 

So i've seen a lot of comparison between the ATHM50 and HD598 and why both of them have their own pros and cons. 

 

But still some may think (including me) why are there no 7.1 surround in both of them meanwhile a lot of gaming communities prefers the 7.1 than the not 7.1  brands. 

 

And i've never tried both of them in my whole life. So for you audio masters. Which side are you? (And please, tell me the logical reason why because in the other web a lot of 12 years old says nonsense about comparising both of 'em)

Of those two I would be on the Sennheiser side, although, I would go for the HD558s over the HD598s. They sound almost identical, but the HD558s are quite a bit cheaper.

 

I don't think I can put up a logical syllogism to explain why I would go with Sennheiser, since a lot of it is down to personal preference and not universal logical constants.

The reason why I would go for the Sennheiser solution in this case, is becuase they have a more preferable sound signature and they have more soundstage.

 

The M50(x)s have a very V-shaped sound signature with very bright treble and borderline overpowering bass. The HD558s have a much more linear sound. 

The soundstage on the M50(x)s is also next to non-existent. The 558s atleast has some soundstage.

 

And don't buy the whole virtual 7.1 surround talk. All it is is a reverb filter, and you can get surprisingly close using third-party solutions like Razer Surround.

I wouldn't recommend doing it, but if you really want 7.1 that would be my prefered solution.

558 are better for gaming far. Bigger sound stage, more comfortable.

As said above, m50x are a v.

And 7.1 in headphones is stupid and can bee replicated with software, As that's all it is Anyway.
