Hi, I'm fairly new to the forums so I apologise for anything I do horrifically wrong.

Anyway, this summer I'm looking to build my first PC (with my dad and neighbour, both who have plenty of experience). I'm hoping this PC will satisfy my needs for the next couple years, even while being upgraded.

Here's a link to my partlist:

[TL;DR i7-6700k, 980 Ti, Watercooling AIO (280mm rad), 16GB RAM]

My question is, Is that Corsair HX1200i too much for my configuration? Keeping in mind that in the future, I am hoping to upgrade to 2x 980 Ti's in SLI, and possibly upto 32GB of RAM. Also I will be overclocking my CPU (and possibly my GPU slightly).

Any advice at all is appreciated.

Slightly but 1000W will be fine for a little bit more future proofing.

I would say it's overkill. Even with another 980ti and 32gb ram, I would say that 1000W is solid and should cover you.

i'd say 750W is enough but go for 850W just for more headroom for 980Ti SLI `-`

your psu is of a reliable one so it should be fine

if you're really paranoid, get a 1000W one, you already have the cash to spend on dual 980ti, why not abit more on an overkill psu lol

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

a 1000w would be perfect but also the 1200w is 80 platinum so its very efficient and its ok

Ok, thanks for the advice, I was just mainly concerned due to this power supply calculator, saying that I would have a load wattage of 928W.

Thanks anyway!

980 Ti 350 Watts absolute max without bios mod.

6700k 150Watts absolute max lol. You will never be near anything like 928W? Reconsider your choice of calculator ... a max of 500 Watts draw is more realistic so about 900 Watts for best efficiency.

PSU calculators spit out numbers that are completely overkill. Never trust them. Two 980tis is more than fine on an 850W PSU.

|PSU Tier List /80 Plus Efficiency| PSU stuff if you need it.
