Hey everyone, so with the new line of graphics cards coming out from both AMD and Nvidia (Polaris & Pascal) that support Display port 1.3 id imagine a whole new set of monitors to be coming out with them or soon after.

I was looking at the Asus ROG Swift PG279Q due to its super high refresh rate but then decided to wait until the new line of cards that support both 4k and high refresh rates to come out because thats where it looks like the industry standard is moving towards (at least to me it does).

But then I learnt about High Dynamic Range and how super cool it is and all that but unfortunately, display port 1.3 isnt capable of handling 4k HDR at above 60 hz so we're sort of back to square one.

My question is, would you guys prefer a 1440p 170hz HDR (or an ultrawide version of that at 144hz) monitor or one with a 4K SDR display at 120hz?

I'm getting all my numbers from an article 144hzmonitors.com so im not too sure how accurate they are so if im talking a whole load on nonsense please correct me. I'll link the article so you guys know what im on about.

Thanks :)

Well, until HDR content is even a thing, everyone would obviously go for just normal panels :P

Im guessing the appeal for HDR in a display wouldn't be for the content but rather the content creators such as filmmakers and artists.
