Why is my PC so LOUD??

ooo also if you take the fan apart they have half covered by a plasitc sheath, make sure you clean in and around that, compressed air is good or a clean lint free cloth, just remember to unplug and don't touch any components or you will be in for a shock and possible a new 'Einstein' esc hair style

Hi,

 

I have been having issues with the noise of my PC, to  determine what is causing it i have Turned the chassis fans of, set the CPU fans to 200RPM and turned my GPU fan off however there is still a loud noise emminating from my PC. I have no idea what could be causing it. It measures 47 Db (decibells) at IDLE.

 

Chassis fans are at 1000 rpm all the ime , CPU Cooler Enermax Liquitech II140XL @Silent fan preset averadge temp 37C.

Try unplugging/stopping fans to find out where the source is.

I think i may have whittled it down to the PSU, i can't understand how, as the fan is hardly spinning and i pull about 725W under FULL load and idling i pull 125W. I have been just browsing for about 3 hours so the PSU has not been under much load. I am stumped.

I have try unplugging all other fans including the CPU fan on my AIO, my GPU (in MSI after Burner) and unplugging all of the chassis fans and still a loud fan noise can still be heard. The PSU fan is the only fan spinning

 

Note: that my PSU is an Akasa Cobra 850w PSU

have you ever run the PSU the other way around (ie fan up not facing the floor) or is it new?

 

could be dirty if it used to be the other way around so try cleaning and then possibly install the other way around and see if there is any noticeable improvement or worsening...

if it does help then you can say for sure it is the PSU fan, I had the same problem but really really loud on my Corsair 750m and I had it installed fan facing up for about a year in my old rig, cleaned out the dust and flipped it so it is back to fan up and its silent again so far....you can always look at replacing the on board fan with a be-quiet fan etc is it does turn out to be that, but thats where my money is to be honest ;)

ooo also if you take the fan apart they have half covered by a plasitc sheath, make sure you clean in and around that, compressed air is good or a clean lint free cloth, just remember to unplug and don't touch any components or you will be in for a shock and possible a new 'Einstein' esc hair style

I have RPM restricter on all my fans and i have TURNED THEM ALL OFF and their is still a lot of noise
