i7 6950X (10 core) officially leaked on Intel's website

Intel over the weekend, leaked its upcoming Core i7-6950X processor in the change-log of its latest Management Engine software, on the company's Support website. In its CPU support list, the entry for "Intel Core i7-6950X Processor Extreme Edition" stands out. It also leaks two key specifications - 25 MB of L3 cache, and a clock speed of up to 3.50 GHz. The Core i7-6800 and i7-6900 series are a family of six-, eight-, and ten-core processors based on the 14 nm "Broadwell-E" silicon, and built in the LGA2011v3 package, compatible with existing Intel X99 Express chipset motherboards, with BIOS updates.

It's being speculated that the i7-6950X will be the first client-platform CPU with 10 cores. Intel could position this product at a new price-point that's above even the $999 it traditionally reserved for its high-end client chips. At $999, the company could offer an 8-core Core i7-6900K; followed by 6-core Core i7-6850K and i7-6800K at the traditional $600 and $400 price points, respectively. Intel could launch these chips some time within Q2-2016.

Hope they do a motherboard refresh but allow it to work with current x99 motherboards.

uhhh, that's some wild speculation, I don't think AMD ever intended to compete with extreme intel processors.

I reckon that there will be a battle in the low (i3) and mid-high end cpus such as i5. I think intel will win with the highest end cpus (10 core intel cpu) but the price is going to be very high

I found the "up to" speed curious, and in a quick look it appears to be the turbo clock. Base would be lower. Of course, I'd expect many to overclock, but this gives an insight too.

That's assuming a lot considering we have 0 information on how Zen will perform.

It almost doesn't matter how it performs as they said Zen would win on value, which I'd expect to be the case. Assuming you had exactly the same product from AMD and Intel, the Intel would cost more.

We have no information on the pricing either for that matter - depending on how much it costs to produce it may have worse value, there's no way of knowing until it launches. Intel is not stupid, they know they may get strong competition soon and will probably not price their lineup excessively compared to the production cost. Which could still mean a higher price than previous generation cpus.

This seems interesting. I have a plan of getting a new system in a year or so after the new GPU's and CPU's have been relesed. I'm very curious about Zen's performance compared to intel chips.

With Intel making scary remarks on the possibility of lowering performance in favour of power consumption, AM4 had BETTER be awesome

Lol. I have a 5820K which is an almost 2 year old chip now. If AMD wants to beat that in value, they have to make a chip that's 4x+ more powerful for almost the same price as their ridiculously overpriced FX9590. Yes, current AMD CPU gaming performance isn't that bad. But Intel absolutely stomps out AMD for compute tasks such as encryption and arithmetic.

The fx 9590 is currently about 250 bucks. If you mean the original launch price, then yes, it certainly will need to be a lot more powerful to justify it (but 4x is waaaaaaay excessive - the 5960x is only about twice as powerful, not 3 or 4 times).

Lol. "Low end". You seem like you really want AMD to win and you're calling the 5820K low end? You do realize that it's like 5x more powerful than anything AMD has to offer? So AMD literally has to make a CPU that's 500% faster for the same price which has been unheard of for any tech company.
