OC Help

Go to solution Solved by KettyKoala,

The downside to using preset OC's is that they set the voltage way too high which skyrockets temps, don't do it. You need to do some more research my friend

So I have an i7-4790k on a ASRock Z97 Fata1ty Killer Mobo cooled by the Dark Rock 3. So I was planning to OC it to 4.2-4.4GHz. However I don't like how when I OC it, the CPU is always pinned to the OC. I don't like it. Is there anyway to have to OC and keep the dynamic multiplier? Like the Clock speed changes based on workload with the OC.

Hmmmmm I must be doing something wrong then. Cause I left OC overnight with nothing open and it was pinned

Set the power plan to balanced instead of performance in your control panel :)

OC to 4.24/4.3. Ran 10 pass Standard Intel Burn. Hottest CPU ran at 93 degrees celsius thoughts?

What voltage are you running? That's really high to say you haven't really OC'd it much

Change your voltage manually. You should REALLY research before doing this stuff, its ridiculous people think you can just do this without any concequences

Okay changed a couple settings turns out input voltage was locked at 1.9V. New 10 Pass but 4.2GHz OC now. https://gyazo.com/00449d2546a52fcc6314f55b370981de\

Also downsides to using BIOS preset OCs?
