Well, if you siphon it off over a few months and pay attention to not use too much bandwidth (and vary how much bandwidth you use, not just same load 24/7) it would still be doable. I've uploaded quite a few terabytes within somewhat reasonable timeframes over a 50 MBit/s upload line. Plus, the victims might just have shitty security.

 

I'd still lean towards an internal leak, personally. But either way is just guesswork in the end.

I know. I hope they find more of the tax evasion and money laundering shit. I have no sympathy for those affected in this leak. I just hope it gets worse. If they find anything that has to do with political manipulation, I wouldn't be surprised.

Yeah man. Funny thing, everytime there's a major news on the 1MDB or anything 'unpleasant' related to the PM, there will usually be news sort of that pieces of the MH370 has been found somewhere. Or any other stuffs to divert the attention.

Actually no. This info actually comes all the way up till march. And it hasnt been out that long. Only just now.

Of course this can be considered "old news". Even George Carlin was making those accusations when he was still around in his stand-up routine on the American Dream. Had to remove the link from the OP. That search and database is from the Off Shore Leaks, not Panama Papers.

The "news" is the exact loopholes, company names, and etc. which have been uncovered. Further, there are many powerful names being uncovered.
