Windows is unable to install to my 1TB WD Blue

Afiqos4253

Hey guys! I just recently built a pc for a friend, however I run into a problem whenever I have to choose a drive to install Windows 10 64-bit. The problem is shown whenever I press 'New' for my 1TB WD Blue. It says that it is unable to install Windows onto the drive as it has an MBR partition(?) and that it needs a GPR partition. I don't understand what it means as I have never come across this problem while building my other friends PCs.

Here are the Specs if you need them:

I5-6400

Gigabyte H170-D3H (drivers updated as of 16/10/2015)

2*4GB sticks of Kingston DDR4 RAM (the ones without a heatsink and with a green PCB)

Zotac GTX 960 (most basic model)

WD 1TB Blue

Cooler Master Alpha 550W

Currently I'm trying to troubleshoot, please help!

Problem is, I can't even run the OS. How do I format the drive? I don't have any spare computers lying around.

Should be easy enough, I assume you can get to the point in installation that lets you select a drive, just delete the partition under the advanced tab. If there is no partition, just... create one! It is kinda weird, and honestly, I had this issue with a few PCs on windows 8.1, my solution was to use the windows 7 install CD to format the drive, then run the install for 8.1

Ok guys, I don't know how it happened, but I pressed format on my USB drive and it said it couldn't format the drive and then the USB drive disappeared from the options. And I was able to select the 1TB HDD! Yay! and thanks for help and suggestions everyone!
