Just in time for dumplings and beer. I have great expectations for this season.

"The wheel?" "No thanks, I'll walk, its more natural" - thus was the beginning of the doom of the Human race.

I don't have any issues in NZ with Vessel. The first month or two when I started using it was troublesome but the last 6-8 months has been excellent. One thing you can try doing is wait an hour before watching the video, depending on how they distribute content around the world and regional caching etc within the first hour you could be streaming from a sub optimal server.

If it is a full world wide push to all CDN nodes the wait time shouldn't be more than 15 minutes but it is rare for CDN's to act like this. Typically it is not pulled to a local region CDN node until the demand is high enough from hits or the video is very popular globally (going viral) then the CDN will push to all nodes. This is how YouTube works, or was last time I read up on how they do it.

Also quite often video streaming services by bandwidth from a CDN host rather than have their own so their is actually a ton of factors as to why some people get slower service.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_delivery_network

Also final note Vessel's bit rate is higher than YouTube, 480p != 480p, video resolution can almost be meaningless.

April 3rd!? Aw man should've got the trial for vessel. Scrapyard wars is my favorite series on the LTT channel

HP Pavilion p007tx (i5 4210u, gt840m, 8GB DDR3 memory and a 1 TB HDD that makes cool sounds when booting up)

Since my laptop can't run modern games too well I use a PS4

When I was watching this, I honestly thought I was watching a real TV show episode and only forgot I was on Vessel when it ended. Edzel did an amazing job and totally deserves to be flooded with praise on his Twitter for the hard work he put into this first episode (and undoubtedly future episodes also). Seriously, this first episode really raises the bar for LMG and puts them in a whole other level in terms of content creation. If it wasn't for a few dead pixels in a few scenes (possibly a problem with the export/Vessel?) and some hard to hear whispers it would have been near perfect.

The DBrand ad was also perfect (in terms of the ad itself and placement), if I hadn't just ordered a case for my new phone yesterday I would have ordered something from DBrand (and I still might if the generic case I bought off Amazon turns out to be crap).

I really can't say enough good things about this episode with only a few negative things:

  1. The dead pixels which might be something outside of LMG's control and not even really noticeable (I had to rewind all 3 times I saw them to actually see them, without rewinding they just made my brain think something didn't look right).
  2. Sometimes when they are whispering on screen they are hard to hear but then again, they are whispering so I could easily adjust the volume to hear them better and I normally watch TV/movies with subtitles on anyways since I tend to keep the volume low to avoid waking people up anyways (does Vessel have a subtitle feature like YouTube?)

Other than that, it was awesome and so much better than a ton of TV shows with a much bigger budget and production team. Happy Easter to all, this episode was significantly better than painted eggs and chocolate.

Enjoyed S04E01 very much Linus. Though it looks like the kick to our dollar added an odd flavour to the hardware scramble and made that a little unusual this time.

Whatever the case, my biggest complaint with SYW3 was that the resulting systems were not computers most of us would deliberately build or be proud to own. That feels wrong, as so much of what you and Luke review and build is focused on aesthetics as much as performance, I wanted to see aesthetics play a major role in this (or future) seasons. Yes, that means a major element to the build doesn't have a metric and it's inherently subjective; however,  we all seem to get by that with almost every product and game review, ever.

Looks like you heard those grumblings already rather loudly and clearly in SYW4!

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for finally doing the longer episodes.  It doesn't feel nearly as rushed like previous series that had to cram so much in such a short amount of time per episode.  Really looking forward to the next episodes!
