Who's gotten an Asus PG348Q?!

So who's gotten one?

 

I pre-ordered thinking it'll be sent out at the beginning of this month but the ETA has kept being pushed back and back. The vender keeps telling me there's no absolute date from Asus. They send me messages saying when it'll arrive, I get my hopes up then a few days later I'll get another saying a later date. I hope to god Asus has gone through QC with a fine toothed comb for this monitor.

 

It's weird that other people from different countries already have them. I saw a couple of europeans got them on here like last month.

ive got mine like 5 weeks ago (im from switzerland). no problems with mine. ive had a pg278q (tn) since october 2014 which i had to return 5 times tho. one year later in october 2015 ive got the pg279q (the ips version) and had no problems with it either.

5 weeks ago sounds about right from what Asus said about the launch date.

yeah surprisingly the price was kinda low, ive got it for 1299.- swiss francs, thats equal to 1315ish dollar. usually we're paying at least 25% on top of the normal price. the monitor hasnt been in stock here either since ive bought it tho.

They're going for $1999au here which is ridiculously high like everything else in Australia. My first custom system cost that much.

There are huge availability problems everywhere. Here in Poland there is only one monitor available in whole country, for 5800 ZL which is 1500 dollars. Overpriced Asus gaming crap is not doing too well apparently. Tons of quality problems, poor customer support, terrible pricing and availability problems everywhere. Well done.

While I won't defend Asus' quality (or perceived lack thereof), let's be careful of the hyperbole please?  Whenever they release a new, high-end ROG panel, the panels are always sold out instantly.  The reason is that Asus can't build them fast enough, and they sell like hotcakes in Asia.  Once Asus gets caught up with the demand in Asia, they start feeding more and more to EU and the US.  It just takes... a while.

 

They'll get caught up and the panels will be readily available.  It just takes something a lot of people don't have, and that's not money....

Yeah, you're one of the guys I was talking about. Fingers crossed that the shipment comes in tomorrow as that's the retailer's eta currently.

 

What settings and framerates are you getting with ROTR? I've got 2 980Ti's as well and that game is what motivated me to get this monitor.

What settings and framerates are you getting with ROTR? I've got 2 980Ti's as well and that game is what motivated me to get this monitor.

I get about 60-80 FPS, this is with 1430Mhz/7096Mhz, however my GTX 980ti Lightnings broke (100 percent fan speed) so I am getting Matrix SLI now, I will test overclock performance next month

Those framerates are pretty good for the resolution and overclock. What kind of AA were ypu using? Geez you must loaded haha

I think it was x2 SMAA, however I am not sure (cannot run the game on my old system that I am currently using)

Finally got it last week but it looks like I got a bad unit. It overclocks fine but the backlight bleed is no good..

You got normal/average unit, getting ultrawide screen with no backlight bleed is a miracle. Especially from manufacturer like Asus, known for quality issues. There is no excuse because backlight bleed is build quality thing, and as far as I know (thats what TFT Central says) both X34 and PG348Q use the same panel as LG 34UC88 and UC98, and those LGs  have blb significantly reduced, only bottom left corner is still some issue. Asus is just selling ragged crap for 1500 dollars. They couldn't even handle standard 27" gaming screens, to the point where they even managed to introduce backlight bleed to TN screens, how can they deal with 34" ultrawide while even serious manufacturers have very hard time to manage problems of screens of this kind?

I paid $2000 and waited for a month for this monitor so I'm gonna kick up a stink about it whether you think it's average or not. Yes asus is known for quality issues but you'd expect they would've gone through these monitor with a fine tooth comb after the fiasco with the fPG279Q's.

I didn't mean that this is okay or something. You should go to Asus and throw this monitor to their face and get your $2000 back, and also another $1000 because they wasted your time and sold you this kind of crap.

LG for example learned a lesson from previous ultrawides and they improved their products based on research and feedback, while Asus focused on designing LEDs and fancy back of the monitor, so the wall behind monitor could have nice view, while technically they did nothing to improve from previous faulty products.

It's without a doubt the best looking monitor around bar the stupid stand.

 

I dunno, gonna see what the retailer will do for me. I want them to open up another box and test it with pics before they send me another one. I've sent Asus a complaint too and keen to see what they will write back.
