So "I" got a Titan X .. What do I use it for?

Gomp

Just a general question.

Having a Titan X .. What is the coolest thing one can look at?

Is there some benchmark program?
Some game?
Some other stuff?

Just being curious...

1- Go into twitch channels and ask streamers what their specs are (first check their info panels to make sure they dont have a titan x, or yet multiple).

2- Then act impressed and say you have you have a titan x.

3-Then ask if its better than theirs.

always beware of counter-troll :D

Benchmark it on Heaven.

Game with it, obviously.

OC it? See how far you can go. Titan X's aren't really known for overclocking very well though.

Did you receive it for free or did you purchase it?

I have a titan x. I bought it before the 980ti was available. If I could do it again I would go 980ti. 2x 980ti is cheaper than 1 titan x right now so for me to upgrade my gpu I'm better off buying two cards than just adding to the one I already have. Feelsbad.jpg

Just being curious...

Since it's a CUDA card (and for the particular thing I'm about to mention, the Maxwell architecture is just excelent), you can do Manual sieving for PrimeGrid.

Basically, instead of LITERALLY taking and average almost 7 days turned 24/7 of compute time to check a single 22 million DIGIT number, you can run that manual sieve thingy and, in the same timeframe, you check over 2 THOUSAND of those numbers.

Now, I don't know about you, I think that's pretty cool. It helps maths theory and save copious ammounts of electricity and compute power. That's just beautiful to look at....

Just watch out for thermals, though. My 970 pulls out 220w by itself when running the app (up from the 175w Nvidia default).

Want to help researchers improve the lives on millions of people with just your computer? Then join World Community Grid distributed computing, and start helping the world to solve it's most difficult problems!

  • 2 weeks later...

Having 12gb worth of assets in any given 3d scene is pretty damn cool.
Make all of it subsurface scattering objects just for fun.

Oh, I bought it..

But I made this thread for general information. So is not relevant if 'I' own one or not.
