Do you only have one sound port on the PC?

Try playing the sound from your phone or tablet. Try to rule out everything. If that works fine, it's probably your sound card.

Exactly what @blu4 said. And get back to us.

No need for a sound card. It's your speakers, or the entire entertainment system itself. (I mean... You could get a decent sound card if you want better sound but the cable you currently use only really supports stero L (Left) and R (Right) sound so I would not see the point in a sound card)

Looks like your home theater is the issue.

If you sub has 2 RCA ins and you have it plugged into the one that says "line level in" you could try and get a Y cable adapter so you could plug into both RCA ins.
