• During the AR/VR Vision Summit Feb 10-11, Sony’s Richard Marks held a presentation about Playstation VR

  • presentation provides an overview of PlayStation VR and basic development process

• <18ms super low latency, thanks to fixed hardware

• 100 degree FOV

• console effectively 60% more powerful than same-spec PC

  • this point was reported by middleware providers, NOT Sony

  • has also been confirmed by a VR developer on Reddit

  • “PSVR is extremely close to being on par with Vive and the Rift w/ a gtx970 based on the tests I’ve done”

  • “If your app runs at 90Hz on a PC with a gtx970 then you should be very close to 60 on the ps4. And with the 120Hz reproduction applied it’s glassy smooth”

• PSVR only required about 1/4th of the render target size that the Vive requires

• PS4 has hardly any driver overhead compared to Windows

Best Module: A module that the phone plugs into and provides a large battery, a "Full-Size" USB 3.0 connector, and a full size HDMI port.

The amount of bits in an audio sample determines the range of "volume". I'd like having a 32-bit playback device for the ability to listen to files rendered out at 32-bits. But I would probably never buy it because of the price.

The one Module I would like to see is a Gyroscope/HUD module with FAA certification.

A Spectrometer would be nice too.

- High speed camera (for sports performance trainers, golf swing/throwing/running/bowling analysis)

- I liked the previous comment about FAA certified module. Could take this to the next step for driving car or riding a motorcycle.
