Is my computer done? Whats my next step?

ryanmmax

So I just finished my wish list of components that I have been working on for the last year.  Most recently I got the Mackie CR4 Special Edition which match my HD 598SE so perfectly.....    Anyway I dont know what I want/should upgrade next?  My wife and I have an understanding that allows me to purchase larger items occasionally, and I will be finishing up my master this May so I am looking for my next upgrade.

Currently everything seems "balanced" and I dont have a clear single point weak spot... If I get a 1440P monitor I will probably need a better GPU or If I get better headphones I will need a dac/amp....

Current Build

Current Options-

  • Wait until I can upgrade at least 2 major components (screen/gpu)
  • New Monitor 34" ultrawide
  • New Monitor 144hz 1080 27"
  • Sub, to pair with my CR4, could use some more base but it doesn't bother me as of yet.
  • Sound card or DAC,  No noticable hiss and the volume is fine so im not sure what it would improve.
  • Crossfire, I already get 70+ FPS on all my games so it wont change anything
  • M.2 NVME,  is it noticeable?
  • 250GB Evo for Raid 0, this will double my boot drive and make it faster so this is convenient
  • new fans, silence is always better
  • sell 290 get 980, still only have a 1080

Would recommend the monitor. I don't think you're card will struggle, but if it does not many settings will have to be turned down. If not would recommend 980, It's a killer card.

I'd sell the 290 and get an R9 390. You could go 4k on medium/high or 2k on ultra.

Im hoping for a free R9-390, from powercolor..... But I am not holding my breath.   I RMAd the 290 in december and they sent me a 290x with reference cooler.  I RMA'd the 290x because I could not live with the noise of the cooler.  They said they will send me a 290, but who knows maybe ill get lucky

would you go 144Hz 1440p   or  1440p ultrawide??  the ultra wide is so pretty!   I guess I dont care about graphics all that much, the higher res would be nice for non-gaming

I... would not go from powercolor. I've heard some raunchy things about their QC.
