Is it safe? 6/8 pin gpu connectors...

LordPugIII

Hiya all,

I have a question for you please.

I have an EVGA 550 G2 PSU. It has 2 cables that connect to GPU's.

They are both 6pin +2pin to make 8 pin connector if you want.

Is it safe to connect the 6 pin to my GPU and leave the extra 2pin bit just, well, just hanging there i suppose?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Thats what they are designed to do, so yeah. Its safe. If you don't trust it you can always attach it to the harness with a cable tie.

Ok great. Thank you all very much. I really appreciate your help.

Is that the same with sata cables then? I think I have 2 sata connectors on the cables that are not being used. Is that also safe to leave just lying around?
