Build log of my 300W bench PSU

iamdarkyoshi

Not sure what to call it yet, but this is my 60V 5A bench PSU project:

It is based off of one of these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/60V-5A-300W-constant-voltage-constant-current-DC-DC-regulated-power-supply-CC-CV-/190898609824?hash=item2c72719ea0:g:VXQAAMXQfFJRP4u~

I still need to find some switchmode PSUs to throw inside the case. Underneath the buck regulator is an intake fan blowing into its mosfet, schottky diode, and choke. I have mounted them upside down on the PCB, which is why you do not see them here.

One think I like about this thing is that it actually has an option to use voltage sense wires when installed into something, so it regulates voltage based on the voltage at the measurement wires, rather than the output of the PCB.

It has headers for the keypad, LEDs, rotary encoder, etc. but I do not have plugs for said headers, so I just soldered wires directly to the PCB.

I will add more details and images as I make progress.

This is not really for powering PC parts, mainly just as a general use bench supply. It will hopefully have the proper protection from derpiness

I challenge you to a build-off!

Also, why 60V 5A? I can't really see all that many applications where you'd need as much as 60V  or 5A. You could make your life easier and just go up to 37V on ~1.5A.
