Volts for Skylake 4.6-4.7GHz OC?

So even though my cooler isn't entirely the best for overclocking, NH-D9L, I decided I wanted to see how high my i5 can go within reason. I'm currently testing 4.6GHz with 1.45V set in the BIOS which translates to about 1.356V with current LLC level. Anyone having similar results?

1.45 volts, that's a bit way too high.

Drop voltage, increase LLC so it stays flat.

System specs
  • Graphics card: Asus GTX 980 Ti (Temp target: 60c, fan speed: slow as hell)

The actual voltage is around 1.36, not the most accurate by default.

I actually had to look at a review of a Gigiabyte Z170 board to see how to set in their BIOS considering they don't tell how, just a box you can type in. Should end up being  about the same Volts, around 1.36, but a lot stabler.

oH, alright then 1.36 should be ok. I wouldn't go past 1.4 though.

Well only you know what voltage is Ok.

Yea it is different for every chip, my 6700K can do 4.7 at 1.365 stable

It ended up needing about 1.408V to be stable at 4.6. 1.45V is generally recommended the highest you should go. You have to remember that Skylake doesn't have the FIVR so it can handle a much higher voltage compared to Haswell.

I still wouldn't go past 1.4  for everyday use :P
