My apologies for lack of clarity i am going for triple 1080 then a single 1080 top, 4 monitors total. only the bottom 3 will have surround going for gaming.

Here's a real time comparison between the last 4 gens of i5 and an 8350 worst case scenario Titan X at 1080p

I want to do gaming with a surround setup and have a fourth monitor at the top for steam, curse, youtube, console gaming and streams. I am eventually going to get skylake in the near future but i wanted to know if i should upgrade to skylake first or if i should go ahead with my quad monitor setup.I want to be playing the latest games on high-ultra, will this setup with my 2500k run fine?

I have yet to find a monitor sub $200 that i like just yet. Any recommendations?
I do believe i will eventually get a single monitor for 1440p but that will be more than half a year away.

System: Intel i5 2500k stock with cooler master 212 evo
SSD:250 evo
Mobo:asus p8p67 -le
Ram: 8bg patriot sector 5
Gpu: 980ti Evga Hybrid

Example of how i want them positioned

Thanks guys,

Monitors and resolutions have no impact on CPU load, so whether a CPU can "handle" a certain monitor setup is a nonsensical question :)

so your plan is to have 3 1080p monitors and a 1440p or 4 1440p monitors total. by the way cpu has nothing to do with how many monitors you can use. Thats gpu. 980ti should be able to play 3 1080p monitors no problem and have the 4th as like a chome tab or somthing, but anything more than 1080p monitors your gonna need another 980ti. And just to clarify even with 1080p monitors you may not be a ble to max all games with a single 980ti. Definately not gonna be maxing them with 1440p monitors

Triple 1080p is 25% less intensive than 4k, the 980ti will destroy any modern game at 1080p However at 1440p it'll be a little bit more difficult.

Your 2500K will be slight bottleneck to the 980ti. It will be a big bottleneck if you do something like play GTA V and try to watch a live stream at the same time.
