What do you guys think? I went with the asrock z710 and i5-6500 because you can OC without an unlocked cpu on asrock board. I went with the core because it can fit nh-d15 and I just bought mine so don't wanna not use it. :)

I like it a lot actually. Good choices not just for gaming but also just for general use. I hope you have fun in college.

I am. :) Just finishing community college up this semester. Figured why spend x5 the amount for core BS classes when I can spend 2k a year instead. And that is the goal. I play some triple A games and a ton of league. Don't need an i7 or 980ti. I plan on saving up quite a bit while in college to try to make a insane overkill build after I get my degree. :)

I've had mine for awhile and someone, who I'll give credit too when I check the post, made a good point. They aren't that bad and for what I am using it for I have had 0 issues.

@coolkingler1 Made some good points in a thread I made awhile ago. Also cool, the smell was from across the street. I had my window open at the time and smelt it again while walking my dog. :D

Yeah, they aren`t that bad, but far from good either way, for a bit more you can get a really solid PSU. They`re made for basic systems, not gaming PC`s.

I don't do a ton of gaming on the system. A lot of my time is spent doing school work and youtubes. I play games maybe 7 hours a week total usually. :) If I feel I need a new psu I will def pick one up. May wait until some sale or check EVGA's B-stock at some point.

I understand the CX pick, but the PSU is a very important thing that many seem to look over. But I wouldn`t go for their B lines, they`re usually meh, GS and G2 are good2

Save $50+ Dollars on the motherboard and get a cheaper one, as you don't have a K series i5 :)

And go for 2x4GB instead of 1x8GB!

Asrock boards let you overclock on non-unlocked CPUs hence the z710 and if I want to upgrade to an unlocked cpu later I have that option without getting a new board. Also the 1 8gb stick is so I can go to 16gb down the road without, once again, getting a new kit of ram. :)

they're bad for high load work, other than that they're just fine.
