Everything is taxed here. They are around 3,200 SEK new, with taxes and all. And importing from the US or whatever will generally be hit with a 20% VAT, you'd realistically have to be under 1,000kr to avoid paying the added VAT.

Edit: Right now I know of two HD650's that are up for sale. 2,000 kr for each pair.

wow that is so much higher than the 80kr I can max buy for without getting VAT. If I am lucky they will miss my package if I buy for more than 80kr, but if they see it I will have to pay atleast 25% with somethings I have to pay like 60-70% of the price to them or else I can't get my things.

It's only really worth importing if you can get a good deal in the first place. Shipping, handling, taxes and everything will normally bring up the price so close to our normal retail prices so that it's not worth hit. So high-priced items at a good price is possibly worth it, nothing else is.

Especially when you count in possible issues that requires warranty, etc.

But you can use Massdrop... I wish they would make a EU version or some kind of inventory in EU.

I'm pretty sure that you can use it as well, and even though I can't wait for the TH-X00's to arrive. I know that I'll have to pay another ~100 dollars in VAT, and handling fees :c

But you can't get those headphones anywhere else, so what are you gonna do?

That's not correct.

Germany is a member of the EU and all custome laws are made by the EU. This means that your friend and yourself are subject to the same import and customes laws.

With online purchases that are directly delivered to buyer (I.E. non-business purchases) the lowere limit for custome duty is €150 (except on certain wares). That is the limit in both Denmark, Sweden, Germany and the rest of the EU.

Whether or not VAT is applied depends on the country though, and there the lower limit only span €10 - €22, not all the way up to €400.

The €400 sounds more like the limit for personal import. That only applies to when your personally transport items from a non-EU country.

You can without getting custome duty. VAT and handling will still be applied.

And your friend is incorrect. Germany doesn't have it's own import laws. They are subject to the import regulation made by the EU.

He is probably confusing personal import with regular import.

if you go on vaction in the US, you can bring wares valued at about €400 (I don't know the specific number, but it sounds about right) with you without having to pay customes duty, VAT or handling.

That limit doesn't apply to online or mailorder purchases. Those purchases fall under the EU legislation on the import of goods.

I just sat down for a bit comparing the used pair of HD650's I bought to my AD2000X's. And I don't know if it's because I bought my 2000X's new and still in pristine condition, or that the HD650's are used, and in a not-so-great condition.

But after sitting down and listening to them, switching between them, and the switching between sources for each of them. I just felt that the 2000X's handled basically everything better than the HD650's. I don't know if the fact that I used my tablet and phone to do this skewed my results, or if I'm naturally bias towards my 2000X's.

All I know is that I much preferred the 2000X's for the testing that I did just now. But I will have to try to do further testing with either a more proper amp, or another solution. Since I really don't think that the HD650's can shine when played from a mobile device. The 2000X's should have the upper hand there anyways, since you can basically power them using farts.

The HD 650 should have warmer sound, so it might just be that you don't like that kind of signature.

Similar price range as the JBL LSR305, the KRK Rokit5 G3 seems to be pretty well received as well......though not nearly as well received as the LSR305's. I got a pair of these badboys and they sound balanced, nice tight bass (it's there and quite punchy when needed, you can adjust the bass level a bit if you wanna),clear mids with nice treble without it being too harsh or sibilant. YMMV of course, I'm a casual listener and don't critically listen to my gear.....unlike a couple of my friends.

They'll listen to the sound and NOT the song, what's the point of just focusing on the sound (or perceived difference in sound) when listening to music played through some new gear? I don't do that. For me, when a piece of hardware enhances the listening pleasure/enjoyment, then it was money well-spent since it's more about deriving greater enjoyment or appreciation of the music be it jazz, pop, rock, metal, classical, new age, etc.

Yeah, I'll have to do some more proper testing where the HD650 can shine. Along with seeing if I can have some friends test both of them, to see what they think.

I initially hated the HD600, but it grew on me. Now I love my 650s, for once I can listen to badly mastered drivel without fearing for my life that the sibilance is going to blow my brain to bits.

The initial detail and air seems terrible, but the 650 is in no way a slouch. Its just such a...nice place to be.
