Why are there so many damn monitors!

monjanger

Well, I was checking my local microcenter today, and they had a few monitors in stock, including the Pg279q.

I need to decided...

Should I go with the...

Asus PG279Q (1440P, 144Hz, G-Sync, IPS, Matte Black thin bezels) with horrible QC @799.99

Asus PG278Q (1440P, 144Hz, G-Sync, Matte Black thin bezels) with horrible QC @ 659.99

Acer XB270HU (1440P, 144Hz, G-Sync, IPS, Glossy bezels) with horrible QC @699.99

Dell S2716DG (1440P, 144Hz, G-Sync, Matte black thin bezels) with great QC @599.99

Also is IPS worth it for gaming and some video editing on the side? Is the whole hassle of getting a panel with minimum backlight bleed wort it?

Edit: I will be buying 2 monitors, so, well, I have twice the chance of getting a bad panel...

yes ips is worth it

if you get backlight bleed just return it for another, and make sure you test it in the store so you dont walk away with a second defective monitor

they might not let you return the second time

My Acer xb270hu is perfect.

IPS is worth it and IPS glow isnt visible at all.

There is only one, do you mean the only one with the most problems and recalls

IPS is worth it, however due to the PG279Q and XB270HU using AU Optronics panels (ACER) they have awful QC on them, with results in large backlight bleed and IPS glow. I would get the Dell S2716DG or ASUS PG278Q

Do not by the ACER Predator X34 or XB270HU, as they have many problems.

Just ignore Metro, and his flippant attitude towards anything Acer. Clearly, he has been wronged by the company on a personal level, and now holds a vendetta.

Seriously, it's just ridiculous.

The xb270hu Problems are solved since Juli 2015. Is there a Reason for your false flag operations?

Even if I still had an Nvidia GPU I wouldn't pay extra for G-sync.

Acer XB270HU and XF270HU are the exact same identical monitor in every imaginable way except one is G-sync for $110 more than the one with Freesync.

$110 for nothing! It's like buying a pet rock, or a bottle of fresh mountain air.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

It has not been fixed, just look at Overclock.net, there are still many problems with it.

For nothing? Game on a Gsync Monitor and you will pay that extra Cash with a smile on your Lips.

Or, you know, do the exact same thing on a Freesync monitor and have a grin on your lips and $110 more in your wallet.

But you have to use AMD for that, no thx. Gsync is superior btw.

Nope. Freesync is now completely equal to G-sync, except for that any driver update now Freesync will be supported over HDMI too which adds a feature Nvidia doesn't have.

They are feature-equal, with G-sync costing $85-$150 more for no additional benefit.

Yup. Feel free to claim which specific features G-sync has that Freesync doesn't have, though. I'd really like to know.
