Since it's only a few months away from being released, I think I might wait and build a Broadwell-E X99 system! :D

oh come on intel

why is the 6900k at $1k, why can't it be just a tad cheaper

The monopoly is real, IF Intel eve had competition

6950x would be $1000

6900k would be $750ish

6850k $500

6800k is priced alright though

I wonder if it's worth the upgrade from my 5820K to the 6800K. Probably not.

I hope AMD's Zen will be competitive to make Intel have to drop the prices a bit. This would help us Canadians :D lol

I would probably say no as each generational CPU usually only has a 10% performance increase. Same goes for people who have a Haswell/Haswell-E running the 4770K/4790K, it's not really worth it to upgrade to Skylake.

Yea, I only recently got this 5820K in September, so I think I can still rock it for a while.

I still have Sandy Bridge and apart from wanting M.2 i still have no interest in upgrading. Waiting for Skylake-E or Cannonlake-E (or whatever it'll be called).

I'm currently running an i5-4690K @ 4.5 GHz. Would it be worth it to upgrade to a an X99 system and getting the 6800K or 6850K when it comes out?

Running alongside a 980Ti Hybrid and 16 GB RAM @ 1600 MHz and playing on an Acer X34.

For gaming? No. Editing? That's a different story.

Just buy a pcie m.2 card. Much cheaper than upgrading the entire platform.

The monopoly is real. Since when is an extreme edition 1500$ instead of 1000$?

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

Also dont forget, even M.2 SSDs with 2 gb/s read, will mostly be just a few % faster than regular  SSDs like a Samsung 850 Evo in any practical use (Opening games/programs, booting up etc)... like, Booting windows might save you 2 seconds or so.

is that worth buying 500gb~ storage for insane 540 dollar, isntead <200? ^^

Depending on the M.2 you get and your system. Make sure to get one with a heatsink on it, otherwise they will throttle under heavy use or unless you got very good airflow.

So the 6850k will probably be a 6800k with more pci/e lanes like the 5930k to the 5820k, or am I missing out on something?

Spoiler
