Improved how? The 390 and the 390x are just overclocked versions of the previous model with extra VRAM that it will never practically use. Don't get me wrong, the RX 300 series is great, but its far from original content from AMD.

I'm not sure but I don't think we'll see Fiji again. I'm not sure if it's actually feasible to refresh it or feasible to shrink it and adapt it to 14/16nm. I think the gains from shifting the entire product stack to the new architecture and process node are too big. Last Fiji we'll see should be Fury X2.

That's the only one using newer drivers. The other link I posted shows the Fury X behind by 5-8fps but after November's driver updates it's faster by 2-3fps in every game at 4K

Yeah I hate them as a company, they've got some decent products but I don't mind losing a small amount of quality in motherboard for the customer support from EVGA or MSI

Eh. I support your point with the 390(x) being slightly improved over the 290(x), but the last 3 points are untrue. The 390(x) is still a shit overclocker like the 290(x). And as long as you had Hynix memory the 290's memory overclocked quite well. And the 390x is still a space heater like the 290x was. I found an article a while back which tested this. I can link it if you want. Overall the 390x is improved but the chip still remains power hungry and not that great of a clocker.

MHz are not created equally. 1MHz for GCN is not the same as 1MHz for Maxwell so we cannot really compare.

MSI customer support is pretty awesome. Got my 390x for my DOA 290. Not that big of an upgrade but nice nonetheless.

Yeah MSI does that a lot, EVGA did it with my cousins 960, We got a DOA twice and they basically said sorry for the issues, will you accept a GTX 970 ACX2.0( one step down from the acx2.0 OC we had ) and did next day delivery.

You're right. The issue with the 390x is that it has a built in TDP limit. Unlike the 290x which could clock to the next galaxy as long as you had good cooling(LN2). The 390x reaches its TDP limit even at low voltage increases(+100mv) which is required to get any good clocks. If you read the reviews you can see that the clocks reached are in the 1150-1200 range which is only a +70- +120 increase. And the performance increase in games isn't that much anyways. I get barely any performance increase with my 390x vs. My 290 when it was overclocked to 1165. Both Overclock.net and Reviews will agree that the 390x is an unhappy card with voltage overclocks. It's very sad that the high end AMD cards are very bad overclockers.
