Should I get a GTX 980ti or a second GTX 970

Price isn't important as after selling my GTX 970 to one of my friends, the 980ti would cost the same as a 970. I currently have an i5 4690, 8gb hyperX savage 2400mhz ram and an Asus Z97-P motherboard

CPU: Intel Core i5 4690 3.5GHz

Motherboard: Asus Z97-P DDR3 ATX

RAM: Kingston HyperX Savage 8GB 2400MHz

GPU: Palit Geforce GTX 1060

Case: Zalman Z9+

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM HDD, SK Hynix 256GB SSD

PSU: SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W

OS: Windows 10 64-Bit

980 Ti. Single card is always better + more VRAM, no SLI issues, less heat, less noise.

The GTX 980ti would last a lot longer despite being slower than 2x GTX970 in SLI. It also has 6GB vRAM and is pretty much a 1440p on near highest (highest if you don't include high levels of AA) settings card, and a good card for 4K gaming on its own.

Lower power consumption as well.

"Single card is always better".

Nah, GTX 970 SLI beats a single 980Ti without problems, VRAM doesn't bottleneck any of these cards and the heat isn't an issue.

SLI issues are barely there anymore these days.

But oh it's you, you force your opinion upon everyone so I'll probably get a hate response.

As you probably know, the 980TI basically performs exactly the same a two 970s in SLI.

I recommend, what the previous person said, get the one 980TI it has higher amount VRAM, no issues with SLI if the developer decides not to patch it before release, less power draw, less noise and less heat in your case. Also no micro stuttering.

and hopefully the new nvidia cards will be coming this first quarter of 2016 so the price for another 980ti will drop heavily around the end of this year for a possible sli upgrade at that point.

Barely there anymore?

What about Fallout 4? What about Witcher? Batman(Horrible port, but still) ? Assassin's creed, should I go on?

Have a look at this video, they trade blows, sometimes the 980TI performs better.

When, you're talking about 3.5/4 Gb, games do bottleneck, seen with Shadow of Mordor using 6GB+

Also, if you had the choice between having your case 5-20C cooler, wouldn't you want that?

980ti. A single, more powerful gpu, is always better than two weaker gpus.

Yeah, I doubt it will be a large improvement over Maxwell.

People just seem to think, Nvidia saying 10X faster than Maxwell means that it will perform 10X faster in games..

They're talking about compute performance, where the Maxwell cards were extremely weak at it, sometimes the Kepler cards performed better.

single card.

unless you love to tinker. My experience with SLi is that you're always hunting for the best driver and messing with software and monitoring. Single card is much more plug and play.

99% of the times Fermi performed better than Maxwell in raw compute

Yeah, you're right. I meant Fermi and not Kepler.

Kepler are still better than Maxwell, but yeah.

Using 6GB+ does not imply 6GB+ is required. *rewinds tape for the next time this statement is made*

Grab the single 980ti and it leaves the option for a 2nd later if you need it

I have had no issues with 2x 970in sli (after I added ram) but its always better to get one card
