Modding Skyrim to look great questions

EIijah
Go to solution Solved by EscalatorBoy,

I highly recommend checking out the r/skyrimmods subreddit. They've got some of the most up to date guides and are generally super helpful. Modding Skyrim has changed a lot and continues to change rapidly as old mods get updated and replaced, so it's good to stay up to date.

So I'm a little bored of my current games, and being someone with very crappy internet (You wouldn't believe how bad it is) I don't have many options for downloading/trying games. Anyway, I want to play Skyrim but I feel I can get a much more pretty experience with some mods, My current system is an i5 4690K and a Gtx 970. I've found http://www.skyrim-beautification-project.com/ which I was going to follow, but due to bad internet, downloading the mods is a nightmare. I'm wondering if I'm able to go to someones house, mod Skyrim on their pc and then just take the game files, would it be that simple? or do I need other launchers and so on. Also are there any very straight forward guides on how to get it looking good? Thanks in advance

You have a decent computer, why won't you give your internet an upgrade?

But yeah, you should be able to download and mod your skyrim. You can get some really nice guides by googling for them.

Tried googling a couple, just looking for some peoples opinions, also there is no upgrade option. I currently live around 3-4Km from the exchange and the company who handles the cables has told us they'll put in a new exchange for 150K

well actually its more simple. just bring a flash drive to your friends and download the mods from nexus then just place them on the flashdrive then move them from the flashdrive to your skyrim directory. or just instll NMM which will the install the mod for you, all you will need is the mod zip from the nexus

Oh ok cool, so I assume trasferring the game files would work just as well, my girlfriend would also like her Skyrim modded

eh im not exactly sure. say taking your data folder and replacing hers with it may work but then again may not. You would probably have to take all the skyrim data, save and all because some skyrim mods edit files that in a different directory then your data folder. Ex. Mod is installed in c:/skyrim/data but edits one of the files in the documents which is where your save is located. so may work but then again may not. never tried it.

BUT if you were to take that same usb you put the mods on and do the same thing to her computer ex. install nmm and then let that program install the mods then it should work just fine.

it isnt good to take someone data folder and mix it with someone elses. if something doesnt work you will have to completely reinstall skyrim

Yes you can download the zip files for the mods anywhere and transport them to your home via sneaker net.  Then just drop the downloaded zip files in to Mod Organizers download folder, after which it's as simple as double click the mod in the download section to install as per usual and click ignore or okay for the warning you get (because MO won't have a record of downloading it).
