Clearly you haven't tried many keyboards then. MX Brown is mediocre. That's it. It's not as bad as everyone says.

As someone who use to like MX browns, i kind of agree. It's bad, but mecha membrane is a thing.

MX Browns were my switch of choice as well prior to diving into this hobby, but they aren't that terrible. If you put them on a good board they feel okay, not a great tactile, but better than most lightweight linear switches IMO.

So I put a solenoid on my Focus lel

I need to do a third revision of the driver board and also test with the Aliexpress solenoids when they arrive but for now it's working great and entirely powered over PS/2. I am gonna try to get the capacitor charging with less current so I have more headroom especially with Focuscalc running but it's fine for now.

Worth a shot! Personally I find minimal difference between Cherry MX Browns and MX clones but worth trying out, you can buy Cherry switches for pretty cheap.

Not a whole lot on Amazon, other Canadian retailers other than Zeal are Keyspresso, Ash Keebs, and Alpha Keys

I have been using TriboSys 3204 on my stabs and switches, very happy with it.

I ran into this problem (from Alberta), I ended up ordering from amazon.com and having it shipped to Canada. I went with g205, it was about $15 USD, but the price was doubled with shipping and import fees. It arrived over a month after the rest of my parts, so I couldn't build it for a while. My grandparents had given me an American amazon gift card (why I chose this route) but the HUGE shipping time and fees and lack of selection sucks. If I were to do this again, I would go through one of the vendors @geo3or @DailyProcrastinatorrecomended.

Edit: my order from KBDFans arrived in about a week from china, even after going through Customs. The lube sat in a warehouse for a month and a half and then shipped in about a week. Shows the level of care you get with a smaller company VS amazon.

i semi agree with this. MX blues are heavy switches IMO and coming from a linear, it can take some learning.

Depends on which linear you are coming from, since 51g actuation and 60g bottom out is pretty average in terms of weighting and there are much heavier linears.

I game a lot and I still love my Gateron milk black switches... But I can see how that could be frustrating to some people

After watching a number of YouTube Video on Building a Keyboard, I'm thinking about trying this Hobby out out.

So how can I DIY on a Budget with a TKL Board? No Soldering please.
