A lot of model Ms in here! Time to add to the pile;

I came across this model m from an old instrument which is obsolete and lying in pieces gathering dust and dirt.

it’s a french board with azerty- so a pain to type on for me. The key feel: granted it’s old and dusty, but honestly, the switches haven’t convinced me - first time trying buckling spring and I’m not the biggest fan of ping. Also they’re scratchy and very inconsistent feeling, but that’s certainly just dirt. Very cool board overall, I’d love to use it more and to have the chance to be won over.

bottom with speaker, very cool.

Back label - 1990 & more pics of key caps (double layered caps are so cool) and original state.

It would have been a pleasure to get to take it home and give it a good clean and restoring. Sadly, I asked the IT technician and he said they keep all old equipment, no matter how obsolete. It’ll be on the floor another couple decades perhaps.

Currently planning my first build. Been using Razer keyboard since almost 4 years now and it's time to change some things 🙂

The PCB (an Instant60 Tsangan) will most likely arrive on friday. Found it used on eBay with a copper plate and screw-in stabs.

Wanna buy GMK Wasabi V2 or GMK Modern Japanese Desko in a GB but can't really decide which one to take (until one arrives I plan on using the NP Simple Set). Switches will most likely be Durock T1 or Gateron Milky Yellows. As case I probably go for a aluminium case or a INK Black plastic case 😄

Wish me luck 🙂

Hi, there.

I'm looking for a mechanical keyboard for my SO.

I'm currently running Razer Pro Type and she likes look and feel but it's too loud to her taste.

Het wishlist is the following:

- full size aka 100% (for office work)

- wireless (to quickly switch between laptop and gaming PC)

- Cherry MX Brown switches

In short, she wants Pro Type but with Cherry MX Brown.

I was trying to Google one, but I wasn't able to find a combination of all 3.

Price is not a big deal, being able to buy it in the US and have a good warranty is more important.

Thanks!

Logi G613 - full size, Lightspeed for gaming, Bluetooth for laptop, switches similar to browns.

Otherwise, any preferred USB keyboard, plus a usb or kvm switch (if it is more about switching between devices, than actual need for wireless).

Also keyboards that have both bluetooth and wired(gaming) options can ‘easily’ switch between both modes in my experience.

If numpad is the only reason for full layout/office work, may be a separate numpad unit would  be a better solution? :)

What about Zealio as an ‘upgrade’ to browns?

I don't really know a lot about different key switches beyond the idea that MX Brown are very close to the "old school" feel.
Also Cherry are known for it's reliability. I had to replace my razer keyboard shortly after purchase as it started to spam letters (double "oo")

G613 sounds like a meaningful choice as well as using a switch. Thank you for the tip!

Just curious, what makes Zeallo an update?

I use Gateron Brown. Was researching if there is a better tactile ones. Wast told about Zealio, so ordered a sample. Liked it 🙂 thinking about switching now.

It’s a bit heavier and more distinct feel.

Literally everything.  They are smoother, much more tactile,  have less stem wobble .

old school feel is barely tactile and really scratchy then  ...  ...  seriously I would look for something else, cherry brown are the worst switches I tried so far.

Probably not the best but I think it looks cool. So I ordered one, costs very little all things considered.

Should be arriving soon, though I don't really know how to tell anyway. But I chose the "red" switches.

Nice. Yeah id assume otemu but thats just a guess. Even with the brand, there is so much variety. Ive got Gateron Milky black, but gateron makes milky top black, black inks v1 and v2, and regular blacks as well. But you should be able to  see the brand under the keycap next to the stem. But yeah, linear switches are really good

Hot take:

Cherry MX Browns are okay. They're not the best switch and by far not the best tactile switch (what is is entirely subjective!) but if you're not sure what to expect then they're okay.

Don't recommend if happen to not like static color scheme. Not RGB LEDs but just colored leds.

Bummer. There are different flashing/flowing options, but no way to make all keys one color.
