You know originally I thought I would hate clicky switches, but they are so much more satisfying to type on that they ended up being my favorite. My favorite clicky switch probably to no ones surprise ended up being box jades as they were quite a bit lighter and a little less muffled than box navys. Also can someone tell what these are? Corsair K90, and I use all but one of the 18 'G' keys (but tend not to use the M2 / M3 option so much. Single key press to open Calc, Paint, Word, Excel and various other webpages or proggies. Love it.

 

(I found that my pinkie would sometimes hit the G18 key when searching frantically for the CTRL key in a game. Caused no end of grief. 😄 )

  • Switches.mx: Touts itself as "The one-stop guide for MX style mechanical keyboard switches." It's got a decent selection, but I feel it still needs growth and more community input. Very excited to see it evolve into something comprehensive! 👍

i dont think it is unreasonable since that is exactly why this thread was started according to the author of the first post. "Thought i should get in early and create a central hub for all us Keyboard enthusiasts to congregate."

 

but thank you. that is what i was looking for. pretty much everything on my computer is gaming related but i have a $15 keyboard that has worked well so far but you know as i do that the cost saving benefits of going cheap early come back to bite you in the butt hard later on with having to spend more money than what its worth. so i have been looking for a gaming keyboard that will last for years to come.

So I've had my Steelseries Apex Pro for a couple of months, and i got some new keycaps, but most of the keycaps seem to get stuck and don't come up again unless I force them up. Does anyone know what might be happening?
 

Edit: Some of the keycaps that actually work feel a bit rough when pressed down.

That could be the keycap binding on the LED on the switch.

Just finished my first keeb and while I think its multitudes ahead of my memebrane keyboard, I have one tiny problem. My stabilized keys sound off. Anybody know how to fix this? (First key in the file is normal and the second is one of the weird ones)

Seems within reason, if you clip, lube, and use the included stab foam stickers that would help for sure.

I would say that its fine for different long keys to sound different from each other. The main thing I think you should focus about the acoustic of the stabilizer is whether it sounds rattle or not. If it is rattly, try the mods that Droy and Procastinator has mentioned. You can also try the holee mod:

So I got some kailh silent box brown about which I will talk at a later time if some are interested about my input on them ... since the switches are kinda quiet I now for the first time can hear my stabs clearly in the gmmk, specially on the upstroke ... I have two lubes here that I could use to silence them ... krytox gpl 205 g0 and dielectric grease.  Will the krytox do the job or it's not tick enough and I should use the dielectric grease ? ... I've already used the grease on my anne pro 2 stab and it did a good job but back then I didn't have the krytox.

I think this might be the place to ask ... 

I have two olkb/drop Preonic keyboards (ortholinear 5x12). One of them is set up to my satisfaction, with vintage Cherry PTB keycaps and Zealios v2 switches. 

The other has holy panda switches but only a cheap set of DSA keycaps ordered from AliExpress. They were meant to by dye sub, but the print is rubbing off already and some legends are all but gone. I am looking for something rather exotic, because I need those keycaps to be: 

-German (ISO-DE) (at least the number keys need to have the correct legends)

-PBT, either double shot or dye sub

-white, cream or light grey (no dark caps with bright legends)

 -uniform profile (I use some keys in rows where they don't usually belong). 

 

Where might be a good place to start looking?

No, it's too thin. 

 

Also no. I used to use dielectric on stabs and I think it makes them a bit sluggish. IMO the optimal lube is 205 G2, which can be found on amazon in tubes. Super lube with PTFE is another alternative though.

I also have a Preonic with some keys in the wrong rows. And this is a challenge. I'd prefer to use sculpted but because of that fact I'm forced into uniform.

This is all pretty doable. I would look at XDA or a uniform version of SA. (I have SA Ice caps on one of mine, XDA Canvas on the other) Look on Drop, r/mechmarket, KBDfans, KPRepublic or just google "{profile} {color design} keycaps"

I know, but it is necessary. The keyboard will, on occasion, be used by non computer people.

The current DSA keycaps I have on there have only the number legends, but not the legends for what happens when you shift+press the numbers. 

The German ones differ from the ANSI ones. 

 

The pic shows the layout I can live with. The grey and orange keys are from the set provided with the Preonic (when you buy it right now on drop), these are OEM profile. 

The off white ones are from an old Cherry keyboard. Medium thick PBT. The only keys that are off are the space bar which is the 0 from the num block and the - key which is supposed to be a row lower than it is.

 

I might try and do the same to the other preonic, mixing cherry and DSA - but I'd really like a 'real' set of keycaps.

Yeah, G205 G2 was the only lube i could get without paying outrageous shipping, lubed all my switches and stabs with it, it is fantastic. Amazon is the best place to get it i find.
