Just going to chime in here and say I've been using a EVGA Z10 (non RGB) for a while now, and i do NOT recommend it.

 

While its nice to have the LCD screen on it (it replaced my old Logitech G15), the software (EVGA Unleashed) is absolute dogsh*t. EVGA didnt even make it, they outsourced it and no longer support it. its utter garbage, slow, un-intuitive, craptastic UI, and super basic macro functionality making it a basically useless feature.

Are you suggesting i use QMK to replace the EVGA Unleashed software and base firmware ? Would it even work wit the Z10 ?

It's likely not possible, just something to consider when you get your next board (if you value having an lcd).

Are those square some dampeners ?  What grease are you using ?  Are you using the same on every parts ?  I will probably do the same if I ever find some affordable grease that can ship here for a decent price ... but before that I have one or two other switch kit I would like to try.

@Dr0yThose are switch films. They help with loose housing tops. The grease is 205g0. Same on all the parts, I'm too lazy to switch up the grease.

Oh so if you have a switch that is not tight enough you can use those or do you use them on every switches ?   Is there some benefit to use them if the switches don't seems to be loose and how does it translate when typing  ?  I'm really curious about that product I didn't know about.

Usually the looseness is switches of a type. These are Alpaca switches which usually have loose housing tops. So I'm filming all of them. However a switch like NK Creams have very tight housings and filming them does nothing.  The effect of films is usually a cleaner sounding up stroke.

Yeah they were pricey, my own justification has been that I cannot travel, so I have doubled down on hobby spending lol.

 

DSA has a set that looks basically the same, they just don't use any Star Wars branding, otherwise the house of mouse would definitely go after them but when in stock they are half the price.

For me i have recently upgraded to a corsair K70 MK2, i used to use a logitech G213 prodigy and i like it alot but after 3-4 months the spacebar died on me, i made a choice (a bad one at that) and replaced it with a razer cynosa lite which i had for all of 24 hours before a prompt return happened with it, as in my opinion it was the worst keyboard i have ever used. i got better typing experience from extreme budget no named membrane keyboards costing £5.

 

But after upgrading to this corsair i am happy to say that im loving it so far. i got it with cherry mx reds and swapped the normal keycaps for "pudding" caps to brighten things up a little more, making it so much easier to type and play in darker room. its just a shame that corsair dont sell pudding caps that are 100% compatible, as 4 of the keys are standard corsair keys due to bottom row layout.

 

well worth the £150 i spent in total!
