980ti or Monitor?

CoolBeans72

So I am selling a couple of things that I haven't gotten around to selling and I am going to be left with quite a bit of money. I am upgrading my setup and am thinking about getting a 980ti or a new monitor.

I have a 970 turbo with 4gb of vram. I have an Asus monitor at 1920x1080, 60hz and around 5ms. It's 27 inches. What should I get?

what monitor? there is no point in getting a monitor that a 970 cant handle. and its pointless getting a 980ti for 1080p

I personally would get the 980Ti since the Rift is coming out soon. But I care about VR so that may be different for you. Maybe just save up until you can get both since.

Go for a monitor. A 980ti is going to be overkill for a 1080p panel. And since monitors are usually kept longer than video cards you can upgrade later on to better utilize your nice monitor.

I would get a new monitor, just like a 1440p one but if your card has a DisplayPort then get a 4K one.

I'd get a 980Ti then a new monitor later on...

if you get a new 1440p monitor = 970 can't handle it.

So I'd get a 980Ti.

980ti, monitor prices will drop once the new GPUs hit.
