i just got a new hard drive

What do I need to do before I can start using it?

      CPUIntel Core i7-4790K 4.8GHz Moherboard: MSI Z97 SLI Krait Edition Memory: HyperX FURY White 24GB DDR3 1866MHz GPU: Asus GTX 970 Turbo

             PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750w SSD: Crucial MX200 250GB HDDWB Blue 1TB Monitor: (2x) BenQ GL2460HM 24-Inch Case: NZXT S340 White

as long as it is new just plug it in

 

you may need to format it if you are putting windows on it

I did but it didn't show up in ''this PC''

Hard drives must be formatted before they can be used. You can use Disk Management or a third party tool to accomplish that.

right click this PC -> manage -> disk management 
than format it in your preferred format

I make Rainmeter things and other art :D

Your system confuses me, a 4790k paired with a 750ti? But yeah just plug it in and format it and it will work just fine

The second drive is the new one, yeah?

Right click on the Unallocated section and click New Simple Volume. Follow the onscreen prompts.
