Be Quiet Shadow Rock vs Hyper 212 vs Noctua NH-U9S

sterlingr

Title mostly says it, I am looking for a cooler to OC my 4690k without breaking the bank. Note I have 2x G.Skill ripjaws X in my system. Which will give me better performance/ noise levels?

Thanks!

The Shadow Rock and U9s are on another level compared to the 212 EVO. The U9s is ~1.5c cooler than the Shadow Rock but the Shadow Rock and U9s emit the same amount of noise.

Look here and these graphs to compare them http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/7038/noctua-nh-u9s-cpu-cooler-review/index6.html

Shadow Rock is a little bit less noisy over Noctua

Noctua cools a little bit more that Shadow Rock

These above are better than the 212 EVO in terms of cooling and noise.

Shadow Rock looks a lot better than Noctua in my opinion but the mounting mechanism is really awfull (hard to mount but it holds great).

Noctua looks ugly in my opinion but it is really easy to mount and holds also well.

All three are good coolers. And all three are in different price ranges. So whats best? Depends on how much you want to spend. Prices in usd from amazon and or newegg

Noctua NH-U9S - $60

be quiet! SHADOW ROCK 2 - $50

Hyper 212 EVO - $30

Lots of reviews out there showing the cooling performance. Get whats in your budget

PC Audio Setup = Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro 80 ohm and Sennheiser pc37x (also for xbox) hooked up to Schiit Fulla 3

Hyper 212 EVO beat Noctua u9s in noise, performance and price

Few people are likely to run their fans at 100%.

The 212 Evo can perform better but will likely be louder most of the time especially at idle.

@sterlingr Are you referring to the Shadow Rock 2 or the Shadow Rock Pro?

Are these your only options? There are likely better alternatives available.
