I need some Motherboard Advice...

IMPROTANT: Intel i5 6500 Lga 1151

 

Hello! If it is not obvious I am sort of an entry level Computer Builder and just had a few questions. In the near future I was hoping to Set up a 2 way Sli interface Between my Current Asus Gtx 970 turbo and another of the same name. But my current board only has one pci-e slot (X16) and I Will need to Migrate to another. the board is an M-Atx board (Full System Specs-http://www.centrecom.com.au/centre-com-system-iceberg-gtx-970-gaming-system). I was wondering if there is a way to get over this without buying a new M-board and if not, what entry level dual Pci-e slot M-board would you suggest? Also, do Sli bridges over come the compatability issue if the Dual Pci-e Slot M-board does not support Sli? I was looking at an Asrock H170 Pro4 but I don't Believe It is Sli compatible. Love for Input and Help!

I own a H97 PRO4. It's a decent motherboard. Get a SLI ribbon cable on Amazon and it should work. No reason why not.

There is deffinitely a need to upgrade your motherboard because you will not get sli otherwise. I am sorry to have to say this, but you may need to have to install a new Operating system too.

What' your current board? most will have 1 x16 running at x16 and others running at x8 or x4, because there're only 16 channels so no point running the others in x16.

You want a board with a second x16 slot running at x8. These are fairly easy to come by on ATX but reserved for mor premium boards on MATX. I'd suggest GB's ga-z170mx gaming 5.

Also what case do you have that you need an matx board and want to sli. That setup can run pretty hot. Also make sure your psu is ok to do it as well. 

If you make a post contradicting mine that doesn't directly address my claims, or cites 'facts' without evidence, I'm probably not going to bother responding to it, because you probably didn't bother reading my post properly, and because life is too short. I have A link in the top post that details the current Structure of my system but it Is an Asus B150m-Ad3 and a relatively large case with great room airflow (Nzxt Source 340)

I think that is a board worth looking into as well for what he wants.

 

Edit: now he wants skylake, go with Gigabyte or Asus and Z170.
