SSD Slow down after Firmware update

Guest

ah, my greed might have gotten the better of me.

After I saw this: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/516259-850-evo/

I downloaded the Samsung disk magician and updated the firmware to get all dat speed yo.

But...

It made it slower, alot slower.
My boot times before was about 8-9 for POST after that was MSI logo and that meant system was booting, and after 4-6  seconds and a few flashes of the windows login screen (auto login) I was logged in 14-16 seconds from cold boot.

Now with the update POST is 8-9, so nothing unusual there, but the MSI logo sticks around for about 20-30 seconds now, meaning the disk or windows is now slower...

Any help?

Hey there Yuannan :)

I would check if there are new programs starting with the OS and causing the delay. Have you modified or installed anything else? I would also benchmark the drive and see the exact speeds that it is working. You may also want to check if you have RAPID enabled in the software that comes with the drive (this might influence the performance quite a lot).
Contacting the manufacturer's support is also a good idea. :)

Post back if you have questions or any progress with this :)

3GBps apparently

thats with RAPID on.

Boot time is still slow, as for extra software I hope not as all i did install was the samsung disk magician. So unless samsung unloaded a crapton of crap, a extra 15 seconds on a SSD is crazy.

I'd check of there are any optimization options on the software that you could work with. As a WD representative I can't really give you a good suggestion on this so I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer's support and see what the guys there can say about it. :)
