Laptop of a particular style

I would like to siphon the wisdomz of the LTT community.

Yes, bring me all the knowledges. They are tasty! :)

I currently have only a laptop. This is fine, except for a few issues. I could solve all of them by building a tower machine to keep in my house. The problem would then become that I have 2 machines to use, instead of just one. I simply don't like that solution.

My ROG GL551JM-EH71 is fairly limited in it's storage capacity, and in it's RAM capacity. I tried to shove 32GB of RAM in it, but it wouldn't boot with the 2 16GB modules installed. The CPU is great, and the GPU (nVidia 860m) is fine for my purposes. I play mostly Starcraft and WoW.

Since it is my only machine, I use it for a desktop too. I have a 27 inch monitor with a Corsair K95 RGB keyboard. When I am at home, I sit at my desk and use it as a desktop. This is not ideal, since every time I go to set it up, I have to plug in every. single. cable.

I would like to get a new laptop, and give my current one to my brother. I am looking for one with the following features.

The ability to dock to a physical station without having to plug in a bunch of cables (Dell and HP have good docking solutions, so that would be the sort of thing I am after)

A GTX 960m at least (perfectly willing to go higher)

Preferably a 6th gen core i7 (I will be running a lot of VMs on this guy)

At the very least, the confirmed ability to support 32GB of RAM (more is always better)

Larger screens are always better, but I would really prefer to not go lower than about 15 inches

The ability to have a couple of hard drives in the chasis is a huge plus, although this is fairly easy to adapt to

Is it asking to much for some extra macro buttons on the keyboard?  :P (I like the Gigabyte P37x)

I am not terribly concerned with battery life

I am not very worried about weight - The caveat is that it should be easy enough to use in college classrooms (no 19 inch alienware behemoths with mechanical keyboards for the lulz)

I am even alright if it needs to reboot before I can use it with the dock

The laptop screens quality and resolution are not all that important. I only game about 25% of the time on the laptop display itself. FHD would be fine.

Does anybody have any suggestions? I know this is a pretty unique request for a... "Laptop of a particular style"  B)

I would appreciate keeping it under $4k

Does this have any docking mechanism to go with it?

I don't fully understand what docking is, article or video to explain?

850M, 860M, 950M and 960M are all rebrands of the 750 Ti - exact same core with 100Mhz difference in clockspeed.

Just an FYI

i7 4720HQ is faster than a i7 6700HQ since a 6700HQ can only turbo 4 cores to 2.9GHz whereas a i7 4720HQ can turbo 4 cores to 3.4GHz (500MHz is quite a bit on a mobile chip like these)

Look into the new thinkpad p50, has docking capability's, good gpu and options for a baller cpu for load of vm's (might even come with a mobile xeon).
