Asrock fatal1ty 990fx killer series northbridge hot

So i installed my corsair h100i today and i noticed that my northbridge is extremely hot to touch, now i know that isnt normal and i cant figure out why its doing this.

Wellcome to the forum!

 

The nothbridge is fine with 60°C, but your finger will get burned. Your hand is not a proper tool to measure the tmeperature. Use a measurement device or download HWmonitor and try to read out te temperature. But probably there in no sensor in the nothbridge.

best way to measure temps is too touch it

hw info 64 or hwmonitor check temps with them

Temperatures that are high to your body are normal when it comes to components that are potentially heavily loaded, like your Southbridge or Northbridge.

try to point a fan at the chipset heatsink

 

see if the temps drop

 

do note you need moving air around the CPU socket to cool the chipset and VRMs

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.
