My gtx 745 is weird

lior1111
Go to solution Solved by mathijs727,

If i have gtx 745,does that mean its possible for me to put 390 instead? I mean, if the gtx 745 fits the motherboard, will the msi 390 fit aswell?

As long as you're power supply can handle it (if it has enough power and the correct connectors (one 6 pin and one 8 pin PCIe power), yes.

Use DDU to uninstall the nvidia drivers first, before you install the 390 and AMD drivers.

I have gtx 745, brand new, with i7 4790 and 16 gb ram, and the performance are so bad, much worse than what its supposed to be!battlefield 4 runs on medium and my card passes recommended in canyourunit.. What should i do?

Thanks.

get a new GPU? the GTX 745 is a low-end GPU, it isn't very good in the first place.

if he has a brand new one im guessing hes on a tight budget

You meet the minimum requirements and can play on medium level. You do not meet the recommended requirements and cannot play with maximum settings. What's weird about that?

Why would you even look up requirements anywhere other than the official website?

My question is why did he pair an i7 with that GPU? It would've been better to buy an i5 and something like an R9 380.

Yeah man im gonna get 390, its gonna be a beast finally.. I cant stand the performance of this thing..

all GPU;s use the same plug in so yes. if your motherboard has a PCI-e slot any GPU will fit in it, modern ones anyways

To put it bluntly Can You Run It is garbage and you shouldn't ever rely on it to tell you if you can run a game. The 745 almost certainly isn't under performing, it's a low end GPU and it will perform like one. You were simply mislead by the shockingly poor information that that site provides. By the way something to keep in mind is that what settings a system that meets the minimum/recommended requirements can run the game at is pretty much never stated. You can meet the minimum requirements for a game but that may only mean that you will be able to run it at 1280x720 30FPS.

Because you have an OEM GPU and not a retail one there won't really be anybody benching it however you can hit Youtube to see if people with it have posted videos of them running the game on the card. There's loads of people putting up videos of them running modern games on all manner of outdated or low end components including OEM hardware so it's very likely that you will find videos that would give you a reasonable idea of how your GPU will perform in a given game.
