Where to connect 2 CPU fans? (Enermax ETS-T40F)

This is my first build with a fan hub & 2 CPU fans so I'm a little confused here...

Case: Phanteks Enthoo Luxe

CPU Cooler: Enermax ETS-T40F

Mobo: ASUS z170 pro

The case comes with a fan hub with a tag that says to plug it into CPU_FAN...which means my actual CPU fan needs to go into CPU_OPT...but this cooler has 2 fans. Where am I supposed to plug in the second CPU fan? I tried it on CHA_FAN2 but it was ~250rpm slower than the other fan which I've been told is a deal breaker.

Do I just need to get a Y splitter?

My build is based on this one here: https://youtu.be/iVEOn1twkYQ?t=9m17s

It looks like he put one fan into CHA_FAN2 and the other into CPU_OPT like I was thinking...no splitters...so...eh? Wouldn't they always be running at different speeds then?

Just plug the fans into the hub.

I thought about that but they are 4 pin and the hub only has 3 pins. Plug in anyway...?

Yes, 3pin fans work fine on a 4pin header.

Other way around ^^; 4 pin fans and 3 pins on the hub. Will that work too?

Yep.

Tried plugging them in the fan hub and neither of them work :T

Is the hub plugged into the cpu_fan header?

Ok wait...I let it run for a few more seconds and the cpu fans turned on. Was expecting them to be instant like before. All the fans are running significantly slower now...which is actually nice because the noise was driving me crazy...but is this safe? Hmm.

As long as your temps are low enough, it's fine.

Yeah im getting a cpu fan error on boot...oy

"Ensure that the cpu fan is properly installed on the cpu_fan header or adjust/disable the fan soeed low limit option in the uefi bios."

Just disable the low limit option.

Ok...just having a hard time finding that. All im seeing us Q-Fan Control with presets or manual control, and an Optimize All routine. Will keep looking..unless im supposed to just increase the minimum speed, but I have no idea where to put it.

There should be a low limit option.

Ah, it was in a drop down menu in the monitor section. So I set it to ignore and still got the error. Guess I'll try increasing it instead..? Should I change the mode or profile? Its on PWM and Turbo right now. Hell should I disable Q-fan entirely or what?

Thanks again for the help so far.

Q-fan is just a preset. If you want to customize the fan speeds, you can do so.

Not sure what Turbo is--can you post a picture?

Here's what I'm working with...

What's the drop down menu for CPU Fan Profile?

Standard, Silent, Turbo, Manual. Tried manual with no luck. Heres the exact error btw. Maybe I need a different kind of fan hub? I read some only work at full speed or something.

Does the fan error stop the system from booting into the OS?

You could try plugging the hub into another pwm header on the motherboard and the cpu fans into the 2 cpu fan headers.
