Is it possible to use case front usb 3.0 ports as usb 2.0?

I will be building a pc but problem is that case have front usb 3.0 ports and motherboad have usb 2.0 ports.

Case-corsair carbide 100r

Motherboad-asus h81m-k

People say that usb 3.0 is backwards compatible with usb 2.0 but i dont understand.

When people say that they mean you can plug a USB 3 drive or whatever into a USB 2 port and it'll be fine. You can use one of these (http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/cables/internaldatacables/usb3.0/Akasa/AK-CBUB19-10BK.html?gclid=CjwKEAiAtf6zBRDS0oCLrL37gFUSJACr2JYbGLwuNcPSaOUu28yh5I1aTqLkBSA_W-kW4YoT6G6VcBoCIP_w_wcB#utm_source=google&utm_medium=base&utm_campaign=products) to plug the USB 3.0 plug from the case into a USB 2.0 header on the motherboard.

You can get one of these to adapt the USB 3.0 cable your case has to a USB 2.0 connector that your motherboard should have.
