Hi, i have this cpu 3 years now and i used to have bad temps at first. Then i changed the cooler to an h80i one and i just tried today again to overclock. Atm im running at 4.2 with everything on auto, just the multiplier set to 42 and the xmp profile on the ram. My cpuid says 1.328 core volt and my temps after 1 hour or so are around 65-67 (prime 95 stress test 1) in a room where i got around 19 celcious.

I apologise im a complete noob with o/c and i wanted some opinions over this. I want system to be 100% stable cause i do lots of 3d rendering for days. Thoughts? Any help appreciated!

Typically the 3930k tops out at 4.4-4.6 Ghz depending on the model. You don't want to go past 1.35V but odds are you are currently using more voltage that you technically need to get the overclock you are but that is pretty typical for the auto overclocking on motherboards. Still its well within the safe range. Temperatures look OK, its not a custom water loop after all (which is what I had cooling my 3930k and it was 60C peak at 4.4Ghz @ 1.35V)

After a friends instructions I managed to drop the vcore at 1.288 @ 4.2 after i got blue screen at 1.250. Im running prime now for 3 hours, i think i ll leave it overnight and call it a day. Is there anything else i should take into consideration? thanks alot!
