Hello everyone, my friend is having some trouble.

After he installed his Radeon R9 290X 4GB, his pc is having trouble Playing games, when he goes to launch Games, It will shut off the display, and cause his computer to Stay on while not responding to resetting, so he has to hold the power button until it's off to turn it back on. he doesn't know if it's a problem with windows or the card.  Whenever he turns his pc back on, the Repar PC settings menu boots.  He is on windows 10 and his CPU is an AMD FX-8320E Eight-Core Processor  Some games that he launches will work until something like an explosion happens too close to him,  then the game freezes, chrashes, or the first problem will happen.

I had the exact same problem earlier today with mr R9 380. Unfortunately the only way I could solve it was be reinstalling windows 10.

The 200 and 300 series have different drivers, odd if it effected both. Were you up to date on your Windows updates?

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Yep and on top of that I had come directly from windows 7 and then uninstalled the old catalyst drivers and then installed the crimson drivers.

Double odd, first I've heard of anything like this. Though crashes are pretty common with Crimson.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

lol. In all seriousness my friend is having problems and he hasn't been receiving help from other tech forums. Thought I would make a post for him here

I was in fact a joke, couldn't resist :) But I would try 15.12 or 15.11. Or both. See if that helps. If not you may want to first check for Windows updates, then do a re install per the instructions of the other user. First I've heard of it but it makes sense as the last two Crimson updates have given me trouble too.

Tell your "friend" to make sure they have the latest drivers from AMD, that would be Crimson 15.12.

After updating the drivers.  He was able to last a bit longer than usual, but eventually his display drivers failed and his computer crashed.

I have already given him this advice, and the problem persists.  Good to know I'm not going in the wrong direction of impromptu tech support.
