Is Molex to 6 pin safe?

TYCriswell2

I got a new GTX 960 SSC for Christmas from EVGA and I was so excited. I put it right in my computer without thinking. I have a 500w power supply and it only has 1 4 pin 1 8 pin and one 6 pin. The 8 pin was already being used for the CPU and the card required a 8 pin

The card came with a 2 6 pin to 8 pin adapter, but I only have 1 6 pin. I looked in my computer and saw a ton of Molex, SATA power, and SATA data cables. is it possible to use a Molex to 6 pin adapter or will I need a new power supply?

If the power supply does not have sufficient connections for the card it's probably not good quality enough for the card. Get a new one.

Exactly and inb4 "960 is super efficient" - that's at stock Nvidia clocks, not factory OC or GPU Boost 2.0 OC

Basically what @don_svetlio said. Go here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/406160-psu-ranking-and-tiers/ and pick something within budget from Tiers 1 or 2.

is this one good enough? I don't have a lot of money. I could get the 70$ one, but I really can't afford to spend that much, because I am still ordering a new CPU cooler.

That one is the single WORST PSU EVGA Have. It Fails load tests at reviewers and is overall bad. No matter how tight a budget, a decent PSU is VItal. It is the heart of your system.
