It's not Christmas Eve yet, but I already know what I'm going to get. I'm getting the same thing I have gotten the last 27 years: Absolutly nothing.

If it makes it any better, it's my own choice to not celebrate Christmas.

My parents never celebrated Christmas, and when I was old enough, I decided not to celebrate it.

I also don't celebrate my birthday. I would make a great Jehovah's Witness

Nope. I have never recived a birthday present. Most people that I know in real life don't even know when my birthday is.

The only reason I remember it, is because my birthdate is part of my social security number.

My parents are of the school of tough love. if I wanted something I had to earn it. Being born is not enough to earn you anything.

What makes it weird is that I own one of the most underrated phones in the world, the LG G3.

G's are good, my coworker has it and it's amazing

The point is that you can't earn a birthday present. Just because you were born on a date it doesn't make you eligible to receive a present from anyone.

The fact that you exist doesn't mean that the world (or anyone in it) owe you anything.

If I wanted something I had to work for it (just like being an adult).

And there is plenty of ways a child can earn stuff. Do the dishes, clean the house, mow the lawn and doing the laundry.

Atleast those were the things I did.

And no, I have never received a birthday present at any time in my life. Not from my parents, not from my sister and not from any kind of family.

A birthday celebrates the creation of life, simply being born makes you a gift to your parents and receiving birthday presents is them returning the favour

You have obviously never meet my parents. To them children is something you only throw the bare minimum of resources at.

It might be a tough way to raise children, but it taught both my sister and I the ways of the world.

They always bought us food, shoes, clothing etc., but never anything that I (or my sister for that matter) could live without.

Family was never really a big thing to my parents either. For example, it took them 4 years before they saw their first grandchild, becuase it simply wasn't important to them.

There also was the problem of us moving country every 6 (or so) months, so having a bunch of stuff would only be a further expense.
