r9 380 2gb to 380(x) 4gb?

Tasuma

Hey all! I have an r9 380 2gb and am thinking about doing an upgrade to a 4gb model. Before people say "sell you're 380 and buy a 390." I plan on reusing the 380 I currently have. The reason for the upgrade is, well, 4gb of Vram. I don't need the power of an r9 390 and plan on doing a complete overhaul of my rig after I graduate college in two years, so just need a card to last me that long. :) Should I just keep the 2gb or spend the money and get the 4gb version?

Edit: I noticed the gtx 960 has come down in price so maybe I will consider that for the lower temps and such. As I said just need a card to last for about 2 years or so.

How much would it cost you to upgrade to the R9 380 (or 380X)?

(AKA: cost of the new GPU minus the money you will make by selling your card).

If it's more than say.. 20-40 dollars: I would say not worth it.

It is like $200ish. I wouldn't be selling my r9 380 2gb. It is with tax return money so I'm not really saving up for it. :P

No not worth it, the performance boost from the extra 2GB would be negligible.

A R9 390 8GB would be worth it.

Either find a used higher tier card (290/780/290x/780Ti) or grab 960 4GB just for giggle which probably can't really last over 2 years i you keep playing latest AAA games.
