Breathing New Life into an older MacBook

Hi all.

 

I have been using my 2010 MacBook a lot more now, especially since I need it for school.

 

I am trying to get some more speed out of it.

 

I have upgraded the RAM from 2GB to 4GB and have replaced the 250GB hard drive with a 120GB solid-state drive.

 

I would upgrade the RAM to the max (16GB) but I'm not sure if it will actually be worth upgrading.

 

Would it be worth buying another 120GB SSD to use in RAID 0 to get more speeds? I really want to be able to play games on this without the system fully crashing.

I would but I can't for 2 reasons.

1. I have no money to put towards a new laptop and

2. This particular model doesn't sell for much online anymore.

 

I have been looking a bit on eBay and the Apple website at new models but if I can avoid getting a new Mac, it would be great because they cost a lot.

if you run a lot applications then you should get a bump up to 8 gigs that should be enough the reason why it is slow may be because your laptop has a sata 2 port. limited to about 300 mb/s.

or you can do a factory install because a lot of the times it is not the laptop that is at fault but rather the multiple installs of osx's that you have had and all the viruses especially if you had cloned your hard drive to the new ssd.
